(Hobkirk) Burkhard May 21, 1960 – July 20, 2005 Heather A. Burkhard, 45, of Bad Axe passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at her home following a short illness. She was born on May 21, 1960, in Laurium, daughter of Robert and Carole (Wolfe) Hobkirk. She married Thomas Burkhard on October 6, 1984, in the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. She was the managing director of hospital services at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She had formerly worked at the Huron County Health Department in Bad Axe and as clinic supervisor at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City. Heather was a member of the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and on the Christian Education Committee, as well as playing in the Bell Choir. She was active in the Huron County Senior Fair. Survived by her husband, Thomas Burkhard of Bad Axe; one daughter, Lauren Burkhard of Bad Axe; one son, Ryan Burkhard of Bad Axe; mother, Carole Hobkirk of Bad Axe; maternal grandmother, Annabel Zurbrick of Pinnebog; mother-in-law, Angeline Burkhard of Bad Axe; one brother, Robert Hobkirk and his wife, Stacie, of Bad Axe; two sisters, Leslie Rounds and her husband, Mike, of Mount Pleasant, Denise Lesnik and her husband, Jeff, of Elgin, Illinois; two nephews, Michael Rounds of Mount Pleasant, Wil Hobkirk of Bad Axe; two nieces, Courtney Rounds and Carly Rounds of Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hobkirk; father-in-law, Harley Burkhard. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jan G. Dykshoorn, pastor. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe First Presbyterian Church.
