The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. _____________________________________________________________________ Joseph Booms Jr. Huron Road Commissioner and Former Supervisor Dies Joseph Booms Jr., former Huron county supervisor and a member of the Huron county Road Commission board, died unexpectedly Sat night at his farm home in Sand Beach twp. He was stricken while in the barn on his farm with his children. He was 55 years old. Booms served as supervisor 15 years of San Beach twp where he lived all his life. He resigned his post Feb 1, 1954 so that he could be a candidate for the Huron County Road Commission. He was elected by his fellow supervisors to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Elmer Witherspoon, Port Hope in Jan. He held the post of chairman of the parks division of the commission. Born Oct 5, 1899 in Sand Beach twp he married Dorothy Schultz in 1926. He is survived by his widow, 6 daughters, Sister Bernetta I.H.M., Fenton; Mrs Ray Suida, Harbor Beach; Mrs Edward Elandt, Verona and Misses Stella Margaret and Audrey Booms, who live with their parents; a son, John Booms, also at home; 2 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs Matilda Booms, Clarence and Allen A Booms, both of Harbor Beach; and 6 sisters, Mrs Elmer Ramage, Palms, Mrs Cyril Essenmacher, Sandusky, Miss Frances Booms and Mrs. John Schultz, both of Harbor Beach and Mrs Stewart Kramer and Mrs Terbrack, both of Ruth. Funeral services will be held at 0 a.m. Tues at Our Lady of Lake Huron Cath ch. Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery. Huron Tribune Date unknown
