Phil Capling
Funeral services for Philip J Capling, 43, who died in Hubbard hospital Mon of a 
heart ailment after a long illness, were held Thurs afternoon in the William T 
Collon Funeral home. Rev Manson H Lowe, pastor of the Presbyterian ch, 
officiated. Burial was in Colfax cemetery. Surviving Mr Capling are his widow, 
the former Lenore Bruns, two daughters, Mary Ellen and Suzanne, and two sons, 
Philip and Peter; his father, Alfred Capling, his grandmother, Mrs Mary Ellen 
Kappler, and a brother William A Capling, all of Bad Axe and a sister, Mrs Vera 
Lanstrum of Portland OR.  Born in Bad Axe, April 21, 1903, Mr Capling lived in 
Bad Axe all hi life. For a number of years he had been employed by the Detroit 
Edison company. Quiet and unassuming "Phil" as he was know to his friends, was 
popular among his associates. He was fond of hunting and other outdoor sports. 
He had apparent perfect health until a few years ago when he contracted a heart 
ailment which became steadily worse.
