Cieslinski, 84, of Ubly, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Mary Vandemark, in Marquette. Marcella was born to the late Martin H. and Anna (Grzybowski) Sofka on January 25, 1920 in Ubly. She married her beloved husband, Anthony "Tony" Joseph Cieslinski, on October 25,1941 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2003. Marcy and Tony moved to their farm in Peck in 1942, before returning to Ubly in 1956, where they farmed and had a dairy operation. Marcy was Tony's lifetime helper on the farm and was active with Tony in the Michigan Animal Breeders Cooperative. As well as working on the farm and the dairy operation, Marcy was a busy homemaker, yearly planting a large garden and preserving the harvest while raising their children. She was a gifted seamstress making clothing and items for the home. Marcy was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Fidelis Regina Circle No. 608 and the St. John Christian Mothers Circle No. 4 Queen of Angels. Marcy and Tony enjoyed traveling very much, although being at their Florida residence was her favorite. She always looked forward to the children, relatives, and friends visiting them there. She was the queen to her family and friends when it came to baking desserts and candies, with English toffee being a specialty. Marcy always enjoyed playing cards, even until shortly before her death, though she said it wasn't as much fun without her Tony. Marcy is survived by her children, Michael A. Cieslinski and his wife, Melinda, of L'Anse, John Cieslinski and his wife, Glennda, of Ubly, and Mary E. Vandemark and her husband, Terry, of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Michael Cieslinski III and his wife, Lori, Gary (Marie Hasselman) Cieslinski , Amy L. (Tim Lightfoot) Cieslinski, Joseph A. (Jennifer Roberts) Cieslinski, Kit (Steve) Lipe, Ty (Jason) Witting, and Zackery Vandemark; nine great- grandchildren, Chantel, Matthew and Cheyanne Cieslinski, Nikki and Errin Ewald, Codi Lipe, Alexys and Aydan Witting, and Nathan Vandemark. Marcella was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony "Tony" Cieslinski; an infant son, Joseph; one brother, Henry Sofka; one sister, Adrianna Wasierski. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at St. John Catholic Church of Ubly. The Rev. T.J. Fleming, pastor of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. There will be a joint rosary at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by St. John Christian Mothers and the Daughters of Isabella.
