He was born on February 27, 1932 in Ruth, to the late Jacob and Josephine (Artman) Clor and was baptized into the Catholic faith at Ruth, Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Melvin attended Hillside, Harbor Beach and Our Lady of Lake Huron schools. After graduating from eighth grade, he farmed on the family farm. He was also in business with his father for many years buying and selling eggs from local area farmers. He worked at the Harbor Beach Community School as a bus driver and custodian from 1972 to 1997. On October 19, 1968 he was united in marriage to Margaret Cardinal at St. Gregory the Great Church in Detroit. They recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Ruth Council. He served his church as a member of the Our Lady of Lake Huron Parish Council, as a Eucharist Minister and an usher. During the time that OLLH High School was in operation he served on the Athletic Board and looked forward to driving team members to their various games on Friday nights. He enjoyed playing softball, square dancing, mowing lawn, playing euchre and watching the Tigers; but more than anything, he loved being a big brother, a husband, a father and a grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Margaret of Harbor Beach; three daughters, Mary Alice Clor-Miller and her husband, Jason, of Grand Rapids, Megan Barbara Clor and Jack Scicluna of Westland, Maureen Elizabeth Corrion and her husband, Steven, of Pigeon; three grandchildren, Abraham Clor Miller, Alexander John Corrion and Henry Melvin Corrion; sisters, Ilene Talaski and her husband, Richard, Marjorie Schott and her husband, Mick; brothers-in-law Bud Roggenbuck and his wife, Eleanor, and Edward Cardinal and his wife, Reta; sister-in-law Barbara Cardinal, IHM; as well as several wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Roggenbuck and sister-in-law Ruth Cardinal. Funeral mass for Melvin will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, with Fr. William Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation for Melvin will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday in the church. A Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Monday) at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School, City Rescue Mission of Saginaw or Bethany Christian Services.
