Elizabeth Sarah (Newsom) Clor
August 23, 1912 - February 1, 1998
Elizabeth S. Clor, age 85, of Pinckney and formerly of Ruth, died Sunday, 
February 1, 1998, at her daughter's residence in Pinckney after a long illness.  
She was born August 21, 1912 in Cottage Hill, Alabama, daughter of the late 
James E. and Sarah (Kelly) Newsom.  She married Leo Clor on September 29, 1931 
at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Ruth.  He preceded her in death on 
January 1, 1997.  She was born in Alabama and moved to the Detroit area in 1922.  
She lived and worked on the farm with her husband.  She was a former parishioner 
of Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Ruth.  She lived with her daughter in Pinckney 
for the last five years. 

Surviving are six daughters, Betty Jean (Clor) Mills of Adrian, Ann Prine and 
her husband, Donald, of Port Sanilac, Junie Brown and her husband, C. Richard, 
of Long Beach, California, Frances Myers and her husband, Dennis, of Pinckney, 
Judy Swartz and her husband, Charles, of Harbor Beach, and Darlene House and her 
husband, Gerry, of Metamora; two sons, Eugene Clor of E. Lansing and Patrick 
Clor and his wife, Eva, of Marion, Texas; 24 grandchildren; and many, many 
greatgrandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sons, William and Leo 
Clor; and 12 brothers and sisters. 

Mass of Resurrection was said on Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church of 
Ruth.  Rev. John Weis, pastor of St. Joseph's of Rapson, officiated.  Burial was 
in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.  Arrangements were conducted by Zinger-
Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.  Published Minden City Herald Thursday February 
5, 1998.
