Cooper April 18, 1926 – January 31, 2008 Gordon L. Cooper age 81 of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday evening, January 31, 2008 at Port Huron Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Harbor Beach on April 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Leon and Myrtle (Morgan) Cooper. On November 23, 1949, Gordon and Rose Mazure were united in marriage in Harbor Beach. Gordon was a veteran of World War II serving in the Phillipines in the US Army. After working for Hercules, Inc. for 42 years, Gordon retired in 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, the American Legion Post 197 of Harbor Beach and enjoyed his family and especially visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gordon like playing cards, especially Euchre and meeting friends at the Citizens Coffee Club. He was an enthusiastic sports fan enjoying all sports and he enjoyed playing golf. Gordon is survived by his wife Rose Cooper of Harbor Beach and their children Gary Cooper and his wife Mary of Harbor Beach and Debra Will and her husband Randy of Harbor Beach. Also by 3 grandchildren: Tracy Eberling, John Eberling and Randy Will, Jr and his special friend Shelly and her daughter Cydnee and by 2 great grandchildren Zachary and Nathan Eberling. Also surviving are two brothers Adrian Cooper of Harbor Beach and Douglas Cooper and his wife Sylvia of Bad Axe. Gordon was preceded in death by a sister Vivian Banker and a brother Burton Cooper. Funeral mass will be Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 11:30 am in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach with Fr. Bill Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military honors by the American Legion Post 197. A parish vigil service will be Sunday at 730 pm in the Ramsey Funeral Home where visitation will be Sunday from 1-9pm and Monday at the church from 10am until the time of services.
