Dean August 18, 1924 - August 24, 2015 Willis J. “Jack” Dean, 91, of Marysville, passed away on Aug. 24, 2015. He was born August 18, 1924, in Bad Axe, son of the late Willis and Loretta Dean. He married Marie Susalla on May 8, 1948, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, Michigan. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2006. He served in the United States Navy aboard the ships U.S.S. Casablanca CVE 55 and U.S.S. Solomons CVE67 during World War II. Jack worked at Mueller Brass for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Holy Trinity Parish, serving as an usher for many years. He was a life member of VFW Post 796 and the American Legion Post 8. He was a very proud Spartan grandpa who attended the graduation of each of his grandchildren from Michigan State University. He was “GG” great-grandpa to Benjamin and Allison Struhar and Audrey and Jacob White. He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Robert) Stager, of Marysville and Linda (Arthur) Lessard, of Clinton Township; four grandchildren, Brian (Theresa) Stager, of Flat Rock, Shelly (Peter) Struhar, of Macomb, David Lessard, of Washington, D.C. and Jonathan Lessard, of St. Clair Shores; brothers, Joseph (Ruth) Dean, of Bad Axe, Robert (Freida) Dean, of Redford and Eleanor Currie, of Harbor Beach; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Miller. Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 in Holy Trinity Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Jeffrey Allan will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and Veterans Honor Guard Alliance. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday in the Karrer- Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service in the church. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
