Born on February 22, 1928 in Harbor Beach, Michigan to Robert and Anna (Moy) Susalla. While working at the local department store, she met a curly, red head young man who asked her for a date. Willis John (Jack) and Marie were married on May 8, 1948. They moved to Port Huron. After the move to Electric Avenue, they welcomed daughter Karen and two years later, daughter Linda. She was involved in raising her daughters and enjoyed a ladies sewing club that eventually became a bridge card playing group. She worked many years at Sperry's department store in the cosmetic department. Loving to travel, she vacationed to most of the 50 states with her family, Alaska being her favorite trip. Grandson Brian Stager and granddaughter Shelly Stager delighted their grandma. Grandsons David and Jonathan Lessard completed her family. Marie loved the Lord and was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She could be seen at the Senior Center playing cards. This year she danced at two weddings for Brian (Michelle) and Shelly (Peter Struhar). Survived by her husband, daughters Karen (Robert) Stager, Linda (Arthur) Lessard, grandchildren and sisters Sylvia Lindsay, Alice Kosal, Beatrice (Raymond)Krantz, Joan Fisher, brothers, Norman (Marion), Wilfred (Virginia), and Irvin (Allene), many in-laws, nephews, nieces, and extended family, neighbors and good friends. Preceded in death by brother Joseph and sister Lillian. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. in the Karrer- Simpson Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. this evening. Pallbearers are Brian Stager, Peter Struhar, David Lessard, Jonathan Lessard, Donald Susalla and Kevin Krantz. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Association.
