Leona M. (Schmitz) Depcinski  
October 14, 1942 – March 5, 2023
Leona Depcinski, age 80, of Bad Axe, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023.  She 
was born on October 14, 1942 in Harbor Beach, daughter of the late Anthony and 
Lillian (Ebach) Schmitz.  She married Clarence Depcinski on July 25, 1964 in St. 
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.  He preceded her in death on May 29, 
2015.  Leona was a longtime Sheridan Township farmer.  She enjoyed playing 
euchre, poker with the girl's, listening to polka music, and loved spending time 
with the grandchildren.

She is survived by her one daughter Brenda Depcinski (Eric White/fiancé) of 
Roseville; four sons, Douglas (Arlene) Depcinski of Bay City, Kevin Depcinski of 
Bad Axe, Duane Depcinski of Bad Axe, Jason Depcinski of Bad Axe; one brother 
Ronald (Margaret) Schmitz, two sisters Agnes (Jerry) Klee, and Helen (Eugene) 
Bischer; six grandchildren, Travis Depcinski of Alaska, Tricia Depcinski of Bay 
City, Steven Depcinski of Bad Axe, Isaac Depcinski of Bad Axe, Landen Depcinski 
of Bad Axe, Arianna Depcinski of Bad Axe; and several nieces and nephews.  She 
was preceded in death by her two sons, Michael Depcinski and Terry Depcinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11 am at 
St. Hubert Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe.  Officiating will 
be Fr. T.J. Fleming.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Ubly (at a later 
date).  Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 2 - 8 pm at the 
Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Saturday at the church from 10 am until the 
service time at 11 am.  A scripture service will be offered on Friday at 7:30 pm
