Mrs. Russell N Dow
Bad Axe, Aug 1 -- Requiem High Mass will be solemnized at 10 a.m. Fri in Sacred 
Heart Cath ch for Mrs. Florence Mary Dow, 40, wife of Russell N Dow and daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. William H McMann. Very Rev. Charles A Roark, pastor, will 
officiate. Rev John W Nagle, Croswell, will assist. Burial will be in Colfax 
Cemetery.  Remains are in the McMann home where Rosary devotions will be 
conducted at 8:30 p.m. Thurs.  Mrs. Dow died Tues in a By City Hospital after a 
long illness, resulting from a fractured back. She suffered the injury in an 
automobile accident but recovered. The injury reoccurred later in a fall.  Mrs. 
Dow is survived by her husband, her parents, a daughter, Mary Sharon, 5; tow 
sisters, Mrs. Sarah McMahon,  Royal Oak, Mrs. Mary Ann Ford, Bay City and two 
brothers, William McMann Jr, Chicago and Charles McMann, Bad Axe.  

Born March 11, 1911, in Bad Axe, Mrs. Dow was graduated by Bad Axe H S and 
Sienna Hts College at Adrian. She taught a rural school near Ruth five years 
before going 16 yrs ago to Detroit. She was employed in Civil Service work in 
Detroit and later personnel work at Dafoe Shipyards in Bay City during the war. 
She resumed teaching at Handy High School in Bay City but was forced to 
discontinue that work because of her injury.
