Robert F. Downey
October 2, 1894 - August 11, 1973
Robert F. Downey, 78, died Saturday in the Huron Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe, 
after a long illness.  A retired Hercules Company employee, he was born October 
2, 1894, in Sherman Township.  Downey and Antonia Clor were married February 10, 
1926, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruth.  They farmed in Huron 
Township before moving to Harbor Beach in 1949.  Mrs. Downey died January 22, 
1971. 

Survivors are five sons, James Downey, South Lyons, Mich., Jerome Downey, East 
Detroit, Dennis Downey, Taylor, Mich., Michael Downey, Lincoln Park, and Mark 
Downey, Mount Clemens; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Shubitowski, Harbor 
Beach, Mrs. Patricia Avery, Fenton, Mich., and Mrs. Rose Ann Bandelow, Novelty, 
Ohio; 23 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas 
Downey, Detroit, Arthur Downey, Chicago, and John Downey, Harbor Beach, and a 
sister, Sister Marie Thomas, Detroit. 

The remains are in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, where the Rosary will 
be recited at 8 p.m. Monday.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. 
Tuesday in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach.  Rev. Bela 
Torok, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 
Ruth.  Published Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) Sun. August 12, 1973.
