He was born August 1, 1940 in Bad Axe to Mildred (Susalla) Duda and the late Elmer J. Duda. He married Sandra Sosnoski June 3, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Don was a lifelong resident of Huron County. He was graduate of Bad Axe High School and attended Central Michigan University. He farmed in Sigel Township, retiring in 2002. He then became employed as a security guard at Dow Agrosciences in Harbor Beach and has worked there since. He was a member of the Eccles School Board for many years. Don was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson, where he served as both a committee member and usher. He was an avid sportsman and founding member of the Rapson Sportsmen’s Club. He also was a member of the Bad Axe Moose Lodge No. 2358. He was a farmer who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. His wit and humor will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra of Harbor Beach; two daughters: Devon (Brent) Sitterley of Ann Arbor; Kimberly A. Duda of Chicago, Illinois; one son: Chad Duda of Chicago, Illinois; two grandsons, Grant and Cole Sitterley of Ann Arbor; mother, Mildred Duda of Harbor Beach; three sisters: Diane (Henry) Torres of Vero Beach, Florida; Cheryl Duda and Larry Loveland of Grand Rapids; Cynthia (Stuart III) Dunnings of Lansing; four nieces, Leah Torres of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Courtney, Coral and Winter Dunnings of Lansing; one nephew, Matthew Torres of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer J. Duda. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. There will be a parish vigil service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
