Published THE MINDEN CITY HERALD Thursday, October 22, 2015. HURON TOWNSHIP, MI -- A 56-year-old driver was killed during a crash with another vehicle in Michigan's Thumb, police say. At 4:01 p.m. Saturday, October 17, the Huron County Sheriff's Department was called to the Huron Township intersection of Minden and Moeller for the crash. "Preliminary investigation is indicating that a northbound vehicle on Minden, driven by 56-year-old Dinah Emerick of Port Hope, failed to yield the right of way of a westbound vehicle..." the Huron County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. A vehicle driven by 58-year-old Robert A. Koglin of Port Hope struck Emerick's vehicle at the intersection. Both drivers were sole occupants of their vehicles. The Harbor Beach Fire Department extricated Emerick from the vehicle. A helicopter flew her to a Saginaw hospital, where she later died from her injuries just before 10 p.m. Saturday. Koglin suffered minor injuries and sought his own treatment by private vehicle, police said. An accident investigation continues and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, October 19. The Harbor Beach Fire Department, Port Hope Fire Department, Eastern Huron Ambulance Service and Central Huron Ambulance Service assisted and the investigation continues.
