He was born July 10, 1876 in Sherman twp. He married Minnie Braun, Oct 25, 1904. He was a member of the Holy Name society of SS Peter & Paul ch, Ruth. Also, he was a survivor of the disastrous Huron county fire of 1881 that swept that region and he cleared the land on which he farmed. Surviving are his widow, one son, Ben, Ruth; two daughters Mrs Charles Hessling and Mrs William Volmering, both of Ruth; 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs Bernard Wipping, Mrs Phillip Vogel and Mrs. Mary Messing, all of Ruth. The remains are at the family home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 p.m. Sat in SS Peter & Paul ch with Rev Francis Welsmiller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
