Dennis was born September 1, 1931 in Harbor Beach to the late Cyril and Sarah (Booms) Essenmacher. He married Erdeen Kilbourn on April 15, 1961 in Sandusky, Michigan. Dennis served in the Army Medical Corp. during the Korean War. He worked on the Great Lakes as a wheelsman from 1949 to 1960 and then worked as an appliance repairman for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky and the VFW Post #2945. Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Erdeen Essenmacher; two sons, Steven (MaryAnn) Essenmacher and Vernon (Martha) Essenmacher; his daughter, Christine (Micheal) Woodley; brother, F. Michael Essenmacher; five sisters, Eileen Wessel, Regina Watchowski, Lulla Thompson, Coni Kaiser and Lil Rader; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Skyler) Kramer, Bryan (Kiersten) Essenmacher, Marni (William) Kammersell and Katie (Adam) Martin; three great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Arnold and Ronald; and five sisters, Linda, Doris, Coletta, Vivien and Rita. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky, Michigan with military honors being conducted by VFW Post #2945. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Sandusky, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky, Michigan.
