He had gone out to the road to investigate a car which had gone off the road in front of his home. He was struck by a car driven by Kenneth Seltz, 21, Minden City, when he stepped into the road. Seltz said he was blinded by the lights of the parked car. Gentner, died of a broken neck. Sheriff dept and state police investigated. Funeral services were conducted Mon morning in SS Peter and Paul Cath ch in Ruth with Very Rev Frank W Kaufmann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gentner was born Nov 24, 1903 in Sherman twp and was a lifelong resident of the county. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Hilary Susalla, Centerline and Audrey and Marily Gentner, both of Ruth; a son, Dennis, Ruth; a grandchild, two brothers, George, Ruth and Roman, Harbor Beach and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Hunyon, Van Dyke, and Mrs. John Hessling, Mrs. Wilbur Kramer and Mrs. Clarence Holdwick all of Harbor Beach.
