Glaza May 10, 1919 – October 11, 2008 Mr. Edward I. Glaza, 89, of Ubly, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at his residence. Edward was born May 10, 1919 in Ubly to the late Frank X. and Theresa (Gwizdalla) Glaza. He married Viola Edna Bukoski on June 5, 1943 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Edward was a 1936 graduate of the Ubly High School. He was born, raised and worked on the family farm outside of Ubly until he retired in 1980. Edward was an electrician with Bruno Gornowich in the late 1930s, wiring many homes for electricity. He worked for 10 years with ASCS. Edward was a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly where he was a former member of the ushers club. He was a member of the Ubly Fox Hunters. Edward was an avid card player, casino patron, mushroom hunter, fisherman and storyteller. He also loved deer and turkey hunting, bagging his most recent turkey this past spring. Edward is survived by his wife of 65 years, V. Edna Glaza of Ubly; his children: Vernon Glaza and his wife, Dianne, of Ubly; Kay Bukoski of Millington; Frank Glaza of Cass City; William Glaza and his wife, Betty, of Ubly; Theresa Murdock and her husband, Steven, of Ubly; 10 grandchildren: Jeff (Tammy) Bukoski of Millington; Colleen Bukoski of Lake City; Barbara (Doug) Kane of Livonia; Scott (Nancy) Bukoski of Mayville; Edna Joanne “E.J.” Glaza of Grand Rapids; Greg (Tonya) Bukoski of Millington; Bradley Glaza of Ubly; Bryan Glaza of Saginaw; Patrick Murdock of Mt. Pleasant; Megan Murdock of Ubly; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends; four sisters: Margaret Chinoski of Ruth; Mildred Antos and husband, John, of Utica; Dolores Dapkus of Plymouth; Genevieve Gorang and husband, Ronald, of Modesto, California; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Glaza and Doris Glaza, both of Ubly. Edward was preceded in death by one son-in-law, LaVern Bukoski; one sister, Susan Deachin Tschirhart; two brothers, Stanley and John Glaza. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
