Interment will be on July 13th at the Rock Island Arsenal with Rita’s beloved husband, Richard. There will not be a public visitation, and the family will have a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kahl Home in Davenport, Grand Haven Retirement in Eldridge, or to Beacon of Hope Hospice in Davenport. Rita was born on August 4th, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph and Ethelyn Tenbusch. She married Richard Roy Gohl of Farmington Michigan on August 23, 1952. Rita was a busy stay at home mom raising a daughter, Mary, and two sons, Russell and Charles. Rita was a passionate Tampa Bay Rays fan and could quote player statistics from heart. She also was an avid reader, her favorite authors were Danielle Steel and James Patterson. She also loved word search games, bingo, and her Wendy’s Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe. She was an amateur poet having one of her poems published. Her true joy in life was her family. Rita is survived by her daughter Mary (Tim) McCleary of Blue Grass, Iowa, and two sons: Russell (Jeanne) Gohl of Minot, North Dakota, and Charles (Diane) Gohl of Greenwood, South Carolina. Her grandchildren whom she loved very much are Angela McCleary-Wheeler, Chris McCleary, Amber (Gohl) Mikkelson, Carrie Gohl, and Gina Gohl. Her great grandchildren are Addison, Ayla, Amy, Abby, Avery, and Declain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents and two brothers and a sister. The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Haven in Eldridge, Iowa, for making her 4 years back in Iowa fun and enjoyable. Also the staff at the Kahl Home and the staff from the Beacon of Hope Hospice for their tender care in the last weeks. We will always be grateful.
