Peter F. Goniwicha, 72, of Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018.  
Peter was born in Harbor Beach on March 12, 1946, son of the late Peter and 
Anastasia (Peyerk) Goniwicha.  He married Ann Perry on June 6, 1970, at St. 
Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson.  She preceded Peter in death on Oct. 14, 
2014.  Peter served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966-1967.  He was very 
involved with his community, being active in the American Legion and the VFW as 
well volunteering at the VA Hospital.  He was a member and shareholder at Bird 
Creek Golf Club and led the 4H Youth Rifle Shooting Program at the Thumb 
Sportsman Club.  He loved his 1967 Belvedere and taking it to car shows, 
woodworking and casino bus trips. 

Peter is survived by one son Michael Goniwicha of Shelby Township; one daughter 
Traci Lombardi of Auburn Hills; two brothers Leonard Goniwicha of Harbor Beach 
and Gerald Goniwicha of Roscommon; three sisters Ilene Thrushman of Port 
Austin, Shirley Young of Warren and Sandy Goniwicha of Warren; and three 
grandchildren Brandon Goniwicha of Washington, Nicolas Lombardi of Auburn Hills 
and Kaden Goniwicha of Shelby Township.  Peter was preceded in death by one 
brother Leo Goniwicha and two sisters Dorlene Talaski and Doris Gwisdalla. 

Services, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 
2018, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. 
on Wednesday at the Kaufman Funeral Home or from 10 a.m. until the service time 
at 11 a.m. on Thursday Memorials may be offered Wounded Warrior Project. If you
