Clara Eleanor (Wrubel) Goniwicha August 9, 1897 - October 15, 1950 Harbor Beach. Oct. 17 - Stricken while on an errand of mercy, Mrs. Clara Gonwicha, 53, wife of Raymond Gonwicha, Mayville and former Huron County resident, died Sunday in Florence Crittendon Hospital in Detroit after an illness of 36 hours. Mrs. Gonwicha suffered an attack of heart disease on a Detroit street while on her way to a Red Cross blood donation center. She was taken to the hospital where she died. Mrs. Gonwicha, who was visiting in Detroit, decided to go to the blood donation center to give a pint of blood because a critically ill daughter-in-law had received seven blood transfusions. Born August 9, 1897 in Paris Township, Mrs. Gonwicha lived in that township, near Harbor Beach and Port Hope until the family moved seven years ago to Mayville in Tuscola County. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Ernest, Elmer and Walter Gonwicha, all of Detroit: 11 daughters. Mrs. Marcus Heilig, Mrs. Alex May, Mrs. Benjamin Helig. Mrs. Thomas Houghton, Mrs. Henry Semenuk and Miss Florence Gonwicha, all of Detroit; Mrs. John Lentovich, Farmington, Mich.; Mrs. Louis Langenberg, Cass City and Misses Mildred, Lorraine and Agnes Gonwicha, all of Mayville. Other survivors are 24 grandchildren, her father, Paul Wrubel Harbor Beach: four sisters, Mrs. Arthur Swartz. Harbor Beach; Mrs. Emil Kalka, Port Hope, and Mrs. Agnes Kanthak and Mrs. Anthony McDonald, all of Detroit, and five brothers, Theodore and George Wrubel, both of Harbor Beach; John Wrubel, Bad Axe; Sylvester Wrubel, Filion and Leo Wrubel, Detroit. The remains were taken to the home of her brother, Sylvester Wrubel, 2 ½ miles north of Rapson Rosary devotions will be conducted there at 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 10 a m Wednesday in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic church in Harbor Beach. Rev. James J. Marvin will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery.
