Gosdzinski, 76, of Ubly passed away Monday morning, July 11, 2011 at his son’s residence under hospice care, with his family by his side. He was born March 28, 1935 in Parisville to the late John and Irene (Dudek) Gosdzinski. He resided in Parisville all his life. He married Marlene M. Kirsch September 27, 1958 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Helena. She preceded him in death May 16, 1999. Eugene was a 1953 graduate of Ubly High School. He farmed with his family and worked for Peter Zurek & C.J. Stomack Hay Company. He also worked for Longuski Silo for 17 1/2 years and was foreman for 15 years. He continued farming until 1999. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Parish, where he was an usher, member and former president and secretary of the Men’s Club. He also was a member of the Hill Topper’s Farm Bureau and the Bad Axe Farm Bureau. He played on the Ubly High school baseball, football and track teams. Eugene also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, going to casinos, scratch off lottery tickets and bowled for 40 years on area teams. He played softball on Parisville’s Church league. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and his loving children and grandchildren. Eugene is survived by three daughters, Diane (Mark) Brown and Glorie Ann (Wayne) Sadro, both of Bad Axe and Darlene Pionk of Ubly; two sons, David (Janel) Gosdzinski and Mark (Christina) Gosdzinski, both of Ubly; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Brown and her fiancee, Dan Ritter, Ashley (Paul) Streussnig, Bradley, Quincy and Landen Sadro, Nicole Pionk and her fiancee, Joe Coddington, Chelsey Pionk and her special friend, Robert Dallas, Samantha and Alexis Pionk, Andrew, Emily, Lindsey and Christopher Gosdzinski and Tony Osantowski; two step-grandchildren, Annette Newsham and Justin Sturm; one great- grandchild, Bentley Osantowski; two step-great-grandchildren, Madysen Newsham and Emma Lynn Smith; two sisters, Loraine Makowski of Centerline, Mary Ann (Fred) Mazure of Bad Axe and one brother Frank (Geraldine) Gosdzinski of Bad Axe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda Kirsch, Karen (Louis) Golob, Delores (Kenneth) Arndt, Richard (Linda) Kirsch and Joyce (Ray) Puvalowski. Eugene was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Gosdzinski; one son-in-law, Jerry Pionk; three brothers-in-law, Ernest Makowski, Donald Kirsch and Kenneth Kirsch; father and mother in-law, Wilbert and Margaret Kirsch.; step-father, Leo Osentowski. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Parisville. The Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor of St. Mary will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at the church only. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday by the St. Mary Men’s Club and a Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the family discretionary fund.
