Colette was born on January 11, 1928 to the late Joseph and Mayme Mausolf. She married William Grekowicz on May 30, 1947 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2012 after 65 years of marriage. Colette attended Schulte School, Our Lady of Lake Huron, and Port Huron Business College graduating with a Senior Stenographic Degree in 1946. She worked for lawyers in Port Huron and Bad Axe until her first child was born. She started playing the organ for St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly in 1956 playing for weekday and Sunday masses, numerous weddings and funerals, and continued to do so until 1986. Colette was a member of the Christian Mother’s Society and she enjoyed playing cards (especially euchre), bowling, traveling and playing bingo. Colette and Bill raised 8 children: Douglas (deceased) and his wife Marilyn of Harbor Beach; Connie Grekowicz of Ruth; Randy and his wife Fia of Kennewick,Washington; Carol Colotti and her husband Michael of Boxford, Massachusetts; Luann Thompson and her husband Retired Col. Eugene Thompson of Rose City, Michigan; Denise Puvalowski and her husband Claude of Ruth; Gerald and his wife Mary Clor of Vonore, Tennessee; and Thomas and his wife Jodi of Lake Orion, Michigan. Colette has twenty-two grandchildren: Eric (Rachel) Grekowicz, Leah (Steven) Rogers, Kelly (David) Ammann, Barbara (Darrin) Siemen, Jennifer Grekowicz, Ryan (Jacque) Grekowicz, Lisa (Anthony) Smith, Chris Grekowicz, Julie (Nathaniel Katz) Colotti, Michael (Lindsey) Colotti, Eugene Thompson Jr., Kathleen Thompson, Joseph (Lindsey) Thompson, Jessica (Jason) Parsons, Kristen (Frank)Richard, Tracy Puvalowski, Jackie (Andrew) Lupo, Laura (Jason) Williams, JaredPuvalowski, Aaron Grekowicz, Austen Grekowicz and Alexandria Holley. Additionally, Colette is survived by thirty-eight great- grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is survived by three sisters; Elaine Sherba (Pete), Jean Armstrong (Ronald), and Sharon Schornack (Jim); one brother: Warren Mausolf; four sister-in-laws: Marlene Mausolf, Aileen Graff, Georgene Gorzen (Joel), and Betty Siemen. Colette was preceded in death by her sisters: Doreen Wruble, and Charlotte Baker; and brothers: Orville, Marvin, and Donald Mausolf. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday May 25, 2023 at 11 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly with visitation from 9:30-10:45. Colette will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, William in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been requested to St. John’s Catholic Church Religious Education Fund, Meadow Lane Assisted Living, or ProMedica Hospice.
