August Grifka
November 19, 1908 – September 12, 1970
August Grifka, 61, farmer and lifelong resident of Austin Township, Sanilac 
County, died Saturday in Saginaw General Hospital after a long illness.  Mr. 
Grifka was born November 19, 1908, in Austin Township.  He and Miss Theresa 
Osentoski were married October 5, 1931.  

He is survived by his widow; five sons, Eugene Grifka, Bad Axe; George Grifka, 
Flint; Chester Grifka, Durand, Michigan; Virgil Grifka, serving in the Army in 
Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Duane Grifka, serving in the Army in Fort Leonard Wood, 
Missouri; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Briolat, Minden City, and Mrs. Thomas 
Feige and Miss Judy Grifka, both of Detroit; 10 grandchildren; seven brothers, 
Michael, Leo, Robert, Stanley and Marshall Grifka, all of Ubly; Albert Grifka, 
Chesaning, Michigan, and Martin Grifka, Snover; five sisters, Mrs. Anthony 
Wonsowicz, Sterling Heights, Michigan, Mrs. Leonard Watchowski, Bloomfield 
Hills, Michigan; Mrs. Stanley Osentoski and Mrs. Raymond Puvalowski, both of 
Ubly, and Mrs. John Pilch, Royal Oak. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Catholic 
Church. Rev. Bernard Skornia will officiate.  Burial will be in the church 
cemetery.  The remains are in Zinger Funeral Home, Ubly, where Father Skornia 
will recite the Rosary at 8 p.m. Monday.  Published Times Herald (Port Huron,
