He was born June 21, 1937 in Ubly to the late Mike and Agnes (Pionk) Grifka. He married Marie Rumptz on January 9, 1963 at St John Catholic Church of Ubly. He was a graduate of Ubly High School, Class of 1956, and enjoyed all high school sports. He worked at Nestle Company for ten years. He worked with electrical contractors in the Flint area for a few years and then worked with John Carlo, Ajax and Ace Asphalt Companies. He was a former director and member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club and parishioner and usher of St John Catholic Church in Ubly for many years. He was a little league coach and a member of Biffs and Tylls Tavern Bowling Teams. He enjoyed golf, farming, euchre and his grandchildren and family. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Ubly; one daughter, Tina Olshove of Davison; two sons, Darrell Grifka and his fiance, Virginia Vanky, of Wichita, Kansas, and David Grifka and his wife, Denise, of Ubly; seven grandchildren, Nichole, Adam and Mason Olshove, Jenna, Jamie, Jerry and Grace Grifka; four brothers, Henry Grifka of Ubly, Ervin Grifka of Detroit, Michael Grifka and his wife, Helen, of Ubly, and William Grifka and his wife, Sandy, of Ubly; four sisters, Anastasia Fisher and her husband, Marvin, of North Fort Meyers, Florida, Bernadine Jansen of North Fort Meyers, Florida, Gloria Schelke of Ubly, and Linda Tate and her husband, Robert, of Pigeon. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy on September 18, 1971; two sisters, Lillian Krug and Patricia Grifka; one brother, Bernard Grifka; in-laws, Bertha Grifka, Robert Jansen and Edward Rnmptz. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday at St John Catholic Church of Ubly. Rev. TJ. Fleming, pastor, officiated. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Arrangements were handled by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.
