Tony was born on February 27, 1943 in Cass City to Alex and Olive (Stepka) Grifka. He attended Ubly Schools and enlisted in the Army Reserves. He married Joan Schumacher on September 1,1962. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1995. He married Jean Schefka on September 19, 1998. Tony was a member of the Thumb Veteran’s Organization, Harbor Beach American Legion Post 197, St. Columbkille Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Black River Tractor Club and the Thumb Octagon Barn. He was a former member of the Thumb Tractor Association and the Eastern Michigan Tractor Association. Tony is survived by his wife Jean of Ubly, daughters; Brenda Wilfong, Sandusky, Nancy Doerr, Snover and Jodi (Chris) Davis of Ubly and son Daryl of Sandusky; grandchildren Brian, Brittany (Cory Haag), Scott, Jacob, and Anthony; great- grandchildren Talan, Holis, Amaris and Blake. His brothers; William (Mary) of Chelsea, Ron (Audrey) of Snover, Tom of Snover and his sister Ann (Walt) Shatto of Snover; brother in law Bernie (Kay) Schefka, and sisters in law Delphine (Jim) Czewski, and Elaine (Virgil) Briolat. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, brothers; Richard, Jim, Lee and Alan, and sisters; Kay and Mae, his granddaughter Jennifer; sister in law and brother in law Marv and Mary Anna Longuski. Tony’s great love was tractors and everything to do with them. He crossed the Mackinac Bridge on his tractor ten times. He also loved the Octagon Barn and he volunteered on Monday’s and took great joy in going there. He also enjoyed spending time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and winters at their home in Holiday, Florida. Mass of Christian burial will be September 19, 2022 with Fr. Nate Harburg officiating, at Good Shepherd Parish, St. Johns in Ubly, Michigan, with burial following at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2022 at MacAlpine Mac Chapel, from 2-8 PM with a scripture service at 7:00 PM, and also from 10:00 until the time of service on Monday at the church.
