Guigar, 76, of Ubly, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. He was born on May 6, 1940, in Minden City, to the late Henry and Irene (Pelot) Guigar. He married Barbara Franzel on June 15, 1963, at St. Ignatius Catholic Robert first attended a country school in Minden City and then continued his education at the Ubly Community Schools. He enjoyed spending time with his family, singing and dancing to polkas, playing euchre. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and all around great man. He will be fondly remembered, loved and missed by many. Robert is survived by two sons, James Guigar of Harbor Beach, Timothy and his wife, Judy of Cass City; one daughter, Kimberly Guigar and her special friend, Harry Osantowski of Ubly; four grandchildren, Jessica Essenmacher and her husband, Kenneth, Todd Michael Guigar Jr., Cari Jo Meffer, Michael Guigar; five great-grandchildren, Connor Ray, Jozilyn Jean, Amber Brooklyn and McKenzie Essenmacher, Mason Joseph Meffer; one brother-in-law, Robert Pelot; three sisters-in-law, Marcy Guigar, Penny Guigar and Vicky (Dennis) Walling. He was preceded in death by one son, Todd Guigar Sr.; three grandchildren, Raymond Osantowski, Cory Osentoski and Bobby Leigh Guigar; one brother, Gerald Guigar; one sister, JoAnn Pelot; two brothers-in-law, John Franzel and Arthur Guigar; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Rumptz and her husband, Wayne. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Freiburg. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at St. Ignatius Church in Freiburg.
