Gusa January 30, 1929 - April 8, 2002 James M. Gusa, 73, of Harbor Beach passed away Monday, April 8, 2002, of an apparent heart attack near his home. He was born January 30, 1929, in Harbor Beach to the late Michael and Josephine (Gintner) Gusa. James and Lauretta Booms were married on May 18, 1957, in Harbor Beach. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church and the Burhans-Hagedon Post 197 American Legion in Harbor Beach. He loved to fish, garden and work in his yard. James is survived by his wife, Lauretta, of Harbor Beach; four sons, James Genis and his wife, Diane, of Yale, John Genis and his wife, Lois, of Harbor Beach, Ronald Genis and his wife, Doreen, of Harbor Beach, and Earl Gusa and his wife, Nancy, of Warren; two daughters, Moreen McCrandall and her husband, Joe, of Burton, and Sharon Bischer and her husband, Dan, of Harbor Beach; one brother, Andrew Gusa and his wife, Pat, of Minden City; five sisters, Anna Klee and her husband, Charles, of Harbor Beach, Catherine Lablong and her husband, Tom, of Dearborn, Marie Booth and her husband, Ken, of Warren, Irene Scoviac of Harbor Beach and Stella Lantz and her husband, Ed, of Rochester; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gusa; a brother, Frank Gusa; a sister, Theresa Romzek; and a grandchild, Jessica Bischer. The funeral mass will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach with the Rev. Jerry Kukla officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will take place at the cemetery by the American Legion. A vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. this evening and 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
