He had recently returned home from the hospital where he had been since suffering a heart attack about a month ago. Harder was Bad Axe police chief for 8 years. He was scoutmaster of the school Boy Scout troop for the past 10 years and was a member of the county Red Cross executive committee. Roy conducted first aid classes throughout the county for the Red Cross. He was also very active in the local civilian Defense unit and the Saginaw Valley Law Enforcement and Eastern Michigan Law Enforcement groups. Born Jan 17, 1903 in Windsor tpw he has lived in Bad Axe since 1917. On May 7, 1921, he married Eva M Leitch at Mt Rose. Surviving him are his widow; three daughters Mrs Letta Leitch, Ubly, Mrs Ann Fritz, Elkton and Mrs Sally Andreus, Sparta WI; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs Jeanette Harder, Port Austin; 2 sisters, Mrs Spencer Case, Filion and Mrs Belle Womack, Las Vegas NV; 4 brothers, Ray Harder, Flint, Rollie, Russell and Ralph Harder all of Detroit. Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. on Sat. Rev Wilson E Spencer will officiate. Burial will be in Colfax cemetery. Remains will be at the MacAlpine funeral home until noon Sat.
