John Florence Heilig
January 25, 1918 - November 20, 1951
John F. Heilig Ruth, Nov. 21 Military burial services Friday morning in SS. 
Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery for John F. Heilig, 33, Minden City, World 
War II veteran, will be in charge of Minden City American Legion post No. 
503.  Mr. Heilig died Tuesday in Sandusky Hospital of injuries suffered 
Monday in a fall from an oil truck. Rev. Frank W. Kaufmann will officiate at 
funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Friday in SS. Peter and Paul church.  Remains 
are in the family residence in Minden City where Father Kaufmann and the 
Holy Name Society of the church will conduct Rosary devotions at 3 p.m. 
Thursday. 

Mr. Heilig was born June 25, 1918 in Delaware Township, Sanilac County.  He 
resided there until his marriage August 20, 1947 to Miss Virginia Schumacher 
in Ss. Peter and Paul church, Ruth.  Since then they have lived in Minden 
City. 

Surviving are his widow, two sons, John Jr., 3, and Thomas, nine months; his 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heilig, Ruth; five brothers, Raymond, Arthur and 
Joseph, all of Minden City; Henry Jr., Ubly, and Herbert, a Great Lakes 
sailor; two sisters, Mrs. Sylvester Fisher, Minden City, and Mrs. Elmre 
Cook, Port Huron.  During World War II, Mr. Heilig, attached to the 34th 
Tank Battalion, took part in five battle campaigns.  He was a member of 
Minden City post No. 503, American Legion and the Holy Name Society.
