Rita B. (Kubacki) Helewski
January 6, 1925 - December 12, 2007 
Mrs. Rita B. Helewski, 82, of Ubly passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 
Sunny Acres Nursing Center of Bad Axe.  Rita was born on January 6, 1925 in 
Bingham Township to the late Aloysius and Lucy (Smaglinski) Kubacki.  She 
married Stanley Helewski on June 1, 1946 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church 
in Smith Corners. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1980. 

Rita was a graduate of the Kelly Country School in Bingham Township. She was a 
domestic for area families before she married Stanley and became a housewife 
and mother.  Rita was a lifelong member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  
She was a member of the choir as well as a member and former officer of the 
Ladies Altar Society.  Rita enjoyed going for rides, baking, gardening, the 
color and smell of her flowers, polka music and dancing, Tiger baseball, 
watching the birds in her back yard and quilting with her material blocks from 
large to the itty bitty small ones.  Most of all, Rita enjoyed her children and 
grandchildren. 

Rita is survived by two sons, David (Jean) Helewski of Bad Axe, Richard (Julie) 
Helewski of Ubly; nine daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Majeski of Kinde, Margaret 
Andreski (Richard) Frantz of Kinde, Elizabeth (Brian) Maurer of Crystal Falls, 
Susanna (Carl) Weber of Ubly, Barbara (Donald) Kolar of Minden City, Carlin 
(Stephen) Maurer of Bad Axe, Marilyn (Robert) Grocholski of Bay City, Mary Jo 
(Robert) Cleary of Ubly, Laurie (Richard) Block of Minden City;  29 
grandchildren, Karen (David) Case, Kimberly (Robert) Miller, Brian (Bridgett) 
Majeski, Jeffrey (Allyn) Andreski, Gregory Andreski, Jennifer (Mark) Priewe, 
Stacey Helewski, Erica Helewski, Craig Helewski, Jacqueline (Benjamin) Smith, 
Jolene (Jeremy) Weiss, Michael (Heidi) Weber, Shannon Weber, David Kolar, 
Bradley Kolar, Aaron Maurer, Joel Maurer, Melissa Grocholski, Jessica 
Grocholski, Chad (Kelly) Helewski, Troy Helewski, Kalyn Helewski, Scott 
Helewski, Krysta Cleary, Mitchel Cleary, Justin Cleary, Bret Cleary, Evan Block 
and Levi Block; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Irwin (Marie) Kubacki, 
Stanley (Margaret) Kubacki, Aloysius (Joann) Kubacki Jr., Bernard (Pauline) 
Kubacki, all of Bad Axe; four sisters, Mary Ann (Eugene) Wisneski of Bad Axe, 
Mildred (Eugene) Lamke of Parisville, Patricia (Lawrence) Vogel of Minden City, 
Rosemary (Thomas) Wisneski of Warren; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Kubacki of 
Parisville.   Rita was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Marvin Andreski; 
two brothers, Clarence Kubacki and an infant brother; one sister, Helen 
Kubacki. 

Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at Holy Trinity 
Catholic Church in Smith Corners. The Rev. James Carlson, pastor, will 
officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. 
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on 
Saturday at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. There will be two services 
on Friday evening, an Altar Society rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil 
service at 7:30 p.m. Both services will be at the funeral home.
