Violet Catherine (Booms) Holdwick September 28, 1941 - November 8, 2009 Mrs. Violet C. Holdwick, 68 of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family under hospice care. She was born on September 28, 1941 in Harbor Beach to the late Arthur and Henrietta (Kirsch) Booms. She married Bernard Holdwick on November 5, I960 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Violet was a graduate of the Ashmore Country School. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband and family. She also babysat for 32 years. She was a parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth where she was a member of the prayer group and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed embroidering, playing euchre; birthday club ladies luncheons and visiting with family and friends. Violet touched the hearts of so many. She is survived by. her husband of 49 years, Bernard : Holdwick of Harbor Beach; four children, Bonnie Mausolf and her husband, Jerry, of St. Clair Shores, Bruce Holdwick of Harbor Beach, Patrick Holdwick and his wife, Angela, of Birch Run, Janis Stein and her husband, David of Harbor Beach; 7 grandchildren, Kayla, Eric and Aaron Mausolf, Seth and Alaina Holdwick, Allison and Katelyn Stein; three brothers: Earl Booms and his wife, Beatrice of Harbor Beach, Ray Booms and his wife, Liz, of Ruth, Carl Booms and his wife, Marjorie of Bad Axe, three sisters, Rita Depcinski and her husband, Ray of Bad Axe, Alice Depcinski arid her husband, Allen of Cass City, Jane Learman and her husband, Harv of Dexter. She was preceded in death by two children, Beverly and David; two brothers Charles and Richard Booms; three sisters, her twin, Vivian, and Frances and Betty Booms. The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 12 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Visitation will be at the Zinger Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 6:30-9 p.m., Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9-10 a.m. There will be a Christian Mothers prayer group service at 3 p.m. and a Christian Mothers rosary on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. The services will be at the funeral home. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, I have found a newspaper article from Port Huron Times Herald dated October 13, 1960, which states she and Bernard were married in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helena.
