Raymond Holdwick
Operator of Ruth Store, Dies at 49
Ruth, Oct 9 - Raymond H Holdwick, 49, proprietor the last 24 years of a general 
store here, died Thurs in Bad Axe General Hospital. He suffered a stroke Wed. 
Born May 28, 1904, in Sherman Twp. Mr Holdwick was a lifelong resident of this 
vicinity. He and Miss Dorothy Hessling were married June 25, 1929 in SS 
Peter & Paul Cath ch in Ruth. Mr. and Mrs. Holdwick purchased the store in Oct 
1929. Mr. Holdwick's death shocked this community, where he was popular and 
highly regarded. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. LeRoy 
Peruski, Royal Oak and Misses Ruth Anne and Dorothy Jean Holdwick, both 
of whom live with their parents, two sons, Raymond Jr, and Daniel, who also live 
with their parents; a grandchild, five brothers, Frank, Anthony and Walter 
Holdwick, all of harbor Beach and Bernard and Charles Holdwick, both of Ruth, 
and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Braun, Harbor Beach and Mrs. Fred Groth, Ruth.  

Mr. Holdwick was a member of Holy Name society of SS Peter & Paul ch.  Funeral 
services will be at 9:30 a.m. Mon in the church. Very Rev Frank W Kaufmann will 
officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Remains are in Zinger funeral 
home in Ruth where Fr Kaufmann will conduct rosary devotions at 3:30 p.m. 
Sunday.
