Carol, the daughter of Thomas and Jenell Anderson, was born on May 15, 1936 in Long Beach, California. On April 16,1955, Carol married the love of her life, Gerald Horwedel. God blessed them with five children, Jerry (Brenda), Mark (Bev), Jeff (Kim), Peach (Russ Frazier) and Marcie (Steve Perez). Carol and Jerry also lovingly welcomed, Joel and Penny Nessa and family into their home. Their 59 year marriage grew into a beautiful family consisting of 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Carol's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and loved entertaining friends at their home. She and Jerry volunteered countless hours to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Carol is survived by her sisters, Lucille, Barbara, Denise and Joyce. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jenell, and brother, Tommy. She also leaves behind numerous loving friends and relatives. There will be a Rosary held at St. Malachy Church in Tehachapi, California at 6 pm, Thursday evening, December 11, 2014. A funeral Mass will also be held at St. Malachy Church at 9 am, Friday morning, December 12, 2014 followed by a graveside service at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc., in Tehachapi, will be handling mortuary services. Donations may be made in remembrance of Carol to St. Malachy's St. Vincent de Paul Society.
