Mary Hunt
One Woman Killed, Another Injured in Wreck On M-53
Imlay City, April 1 – Mrs Mary Hunt, 50, Amherstburg, Ont, was killed instantly 
and Mrs Anna M Johnson, Detroit, suffered chest and internal injuries in an 
automobile accident on M-53 five miles south of Imlay City at 4 p.m. Wed. They 
were returning home from a funeral at Ruth when the car …ran off the pavement in 
passing a parked MI Bell Telephone company truck, State Police of the Romeo post 
and Coroner Lester Smith reported.  The car swerved back onto the road and the 
arm of a derrick on the truck smashed through the side of the car, the officers 
said. Mrs Hunt is survived by her husband, Walter, and nine children. Her body 
was taken to the Lester Smith funeral home and later to Amherstburg. Mrs Hunt 
was a sister of the late Joseph Koch, Ruth and aunt of Pfc Wilfred G Koch, whose 
body is being returned.
