Jaroch November 20, 1918 - May 25, 1992 Lambert J. Jaroch, 73, of Ubly, retired owner of Jaroch’s Grocery, died Monday, May 25, at Four Season’s Health Care Center in Bad Axe after an extended illness. He was born November 20, 1918, in St. Charles, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Korelski) Jaroch. He married Lillian M. Bismack April 9, 1947, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly. Jaroch was a graduate of Ubly High School and attended Saginaw Business School. He was a member of the Ubly team that won the Huron County Baseball League Pennant in 1937. He was a World WarII Army veteran and former prisoner of war in Germany. Jaroch purchased Jaroch’s Grocery in 1947 and retired in 1987 after 35 years of proprietorship in the grocery business. He was a former member of the Ubly Lions Club and the Bad Axe and Ruth Knights of Columbus. He performed in all of the Alabama Jubilee productions. He was an honorary member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club, former chief and honorary member of the Bingham Fire Department and past president of the Huron County Firemen’s Association. Jaroch was a past officer and member of the Thumb Veteran’s Organization #1 of Ubly, honorary member of Parisville VFW Post #5740, member of Rolling Hills Golf Club of Cass City, and former officer and member of the Ubly Community Club. Jaroch was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and a member of the Usher Club. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Jaroch, of Ubly; 2 sons, Col. Victor D. Jaroch, U.S.A.F., and his wife, Linda, of Manassas, Virginia, and David J. Jaroch and his wife, Marie, of Ubly; 3 daughters: Mrs. Steven (Deborah) Smepanski of Rockford, Joanne Preston of East Lansing and Pamela M. Harrison of Akron, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Frances) Victor of Utica, Mrs. Louis (Beatrice) Rutkowski of Sterling Heights and ElenorVandenberg of Owosso. He was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Jaroch. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ubly, with the Rev. Peter J. Gaspeny, pastor, officiating. Burial was to be in the church cemetery, with graveside military services provided by Thumb Veteran’s Organization #1, Parisville VFW Post #5740, and the Zurek-Graham VFW Post #6965 of Ubly.
