Judy Kay (Nugent) Glaza
May 5, 1947 – October 5, 2001
Mrs. Judy Kay Glaza, 54, of Ubly passed away Friday morning, October 5, 2001, 
at her residence under hospice care.  She was born May 5, 1947, in Bad Axe, 
daughter of John and Dorothy (Stirrett) Nugent.  She married Arnold Glaza on 
July 27, 1968, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Saginaw.  Judy was a graduate of 
Ubly High School in 1965.  She graduated from Ferris State University in 1967 
with an associate's degree as a dental assistant.  She worked 28 years as a 
dispatcher for the Huron County Sheriff's Department and Central Dispatch.  
She was also owner of Aunt Judy's Collectibles.  Judy was a parishioner at St. 
John Catholic Church of Ubly, where she was a member of St. John Christian 
Mothers Circle No. 4 Queen of Angels.  She was also a former Eucharistic 
Minister at the parish.  She was a member of the Jubilee Singers and the Ubly 
Girls Royal Highlanders Bagpipe Group.  She was also a member of the Med-
Control Board.  She loved music, antiques, traveling and hosting family 
gatherings.  She enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren.  

Judy is survived by her husband, Arnold, of Ubly; two sons, Scott Glaza of 
Alma, and Chad Glaza and his wife, Cristy, of Gaylord; two grandchildren, Jake 
and Catie Glaza of Gaylord; her parents, John and Dorothy Nugent of Weidman; 
two brothers, Jerry Nugent and his wife, Diane, of Davison, and Warren Nugent 
and his wife, Mary Jane, of Bath; one sister, Elrae Herp and her husband, 
Jerry, of Ubly; mother-in-law, Gertrude Glaza of Ubly; brothers-in-law, 
Orville Glaza and his wife, Marcia, of Ubly, and Lawrence Glaza and his wife, 
Doty, of Ubly; sister-in-law, Marie Roberts and her husband, Bill, of Ubly; 
and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father-in-
law, Stanley Glaza; two nephews, Jonathan Nugent and Jeffrey Herp; and her 
niece, Jodi Glaza.  

Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2001 at St. John Catholic 
Church of Ubly. The Rev. T.J. Fleming, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be 
in the church cemetery.  There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 8 p.m. on 
Saturday and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Zinger-Smigielski 
Funeral Home of Ubly. 
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 
9:30 p.m. Sunday, and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday.  Memorials requested to the Family 
Discretionary Fund.
