Bernard Joseph Koenders
August 31, 1861 - February 20, 1945
Bernhard Koenders Ruth, Feb. 24 Funeral services for Bernhard Koenders, 83, who 
lived most of his life on a farm near here, were held Friday morning in the 
residence at 1946 Cortland, Detroit.  Mr. Koenders is survived by his wife, 
Anna; a son, George Koenders, Center Line, Mich.; five daughters, Mrs. Leo 
Coleman, Lincoln Park; Mrs. William Gibbard, Minden City; Mrs. August 
Zimmermann, New Haven; Mrs. Eugene De Caussin, Roseville, and Mrs. Bernadetta 
Patterson, Detroit; 20 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  He was born 
in Cleveland and when a boy moved to a farm near Ruth with his parents, where he 
lived the greater part of his life.  Before moving to Detroit, he lived on a 
farm near Mt. Clemens.  Published Port Huron Times Herald Sunday February 25, 
1945

Koenders.  Married Anna M. Pomella on May 26, 1896 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church in Ruth.  Daughters:  Mrs. (Mary) Leo Coleman, Mrs. (Caroline) William 
Gibbard, Mrs. (Frances) August Zimmermann, Mrs. (Catherine) Eugene De Caussin.
