He was born October 6, 1916 in Ruth, son of the late John R. and Barbara (Artman) Kosal. He married Grace Glaza in 1947 in Bad Axe. She preceded him in death on September 12, 1950. He then married Shirley Fox on August 5, 1972 in Bad Axe. She preceded him in death on August 29, 1973. He was a graduate of Sts. Peter and Paul School. He farmed in the Ruth area. He was in the U.S. Army Air Force in Hawaii. He worked for Hercules Powder Company of Harbor Beach for many years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul VFW Post #5740. Surviving are one son, Thomas Kosal and his wife, Karen, of Peck; a step- daughter, Frances Kanaby, and her husband, Larry, of Bad Axe; three granddaughters, Mrs. Michele Robinson and her husband, David, of Sandusky, Kathleen Kosal of Ann Arbor, and Tracy Kosal of Kalamazoo; one step- grandson, Larry "L.J." Kanaby and his wife, Kelly, of Bad Axe; three step- great-granddaughters, Kristi Goretski, Tawny Kanaby, and Toria Kanaby; two brothers, Harvey Kosal and his wife, Alice, of Warren, and Clifford Kosal and his wife Blanche “Patsy,” of Harbor Beach; and one sister, Delores Mason of Birch Run. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Marie Kosal; four brothers, Armean, Ralph, Irvin and Karl; and one sister, Isabel. Mass of Resurrection was held Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Ruth. Rev, Ronald Wagner, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly.
