Kozfkay, 80, of Harbor Beach passed away Friday, August 24, 2001 in William Beaumont Hospital of Royal Oak following a short illness. Born in Harbor Beach on April 12, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Martha (Goniewcha) Kozfkay. He and Elsie Gwisdalla were united in marriage on May 18, 1946 in St. Mary's Church in Parisville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy Invasion. Edward was a retired employee of Active Industries in Elkton. He retired in 1986 after working more than 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach and a life member of Parisville VFW Post No. 5740. Edward enjoyed the out of doors, working in his garden and fishing and doing woodworking projects. He also was a guitar player being in a band for many years. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Kozfkay, of Harbor Beach; children, Marilyn Gosdzinski and her husband, James, of Trenton, Sandy Glaza and her husband, Gary, of Saginaw, Carol Herriman and her husband, Dan, of Harbor Beach, Allen Kozfkay of Harbor Beach and Dan Kozfkay and his wife, Sharon, of Port Hope; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Kozfkay of Allen Park; a sister, Mary Lou Abraham of Roseville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kozfkay. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2001 in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Harbor Beach with the Rev. Gerald Kukla, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Parisville VFW Post No. 5740. A vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m. today in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, where visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday.
