She was born February 12, 1926 at home on the family farm in Dwight Township, Kinde, the daughter of the late Anthony and Agnes (Fisher) Polega. She married Casimer Lackowski on October 7, 1950 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Dwight. He preceded her in death October 25, 1987. Frances was the owner-operator of the former Fran’s Restaurant in Bad Axe and Fran’s Drive-In Restaurant in Caseville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe and the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Lackowski of Hudson, Florida, Diane (David) LaDrig of Lincoln Park and Jacqueline (James) Gorkowski of Hudson, Florida; three sons, Kenneth Lackowski and special friend, Cindy, of Vassar, Perry (Linda) Lackowski of Loveland, Colorado, and Casimer (Barbara) Lackowski, Jr. of Lincoln Park; two brothers, Irvin Polega of Caseville and Eugene (Rose) Polega of Port Austin; three sisters, Irene Grifka-Wozriiak of Harbor Beach, Geraldine Pereny of Port Austin and Grace (Marvin) Zurek of Sand Point; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Jasmine, Julia, Cass, Damien, Betheny, Brandon, Amie, Kayla, Keagen and Kazmier; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Albin Polega and Frank Polega and one sister, Dorothy Sosnoski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. Rob Howe, pastor. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Port Austin. Visitation will take place from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be offered at 4 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. today, both at the funeral home.
