Mr. Elmer Lamke, 84, of Ubly, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Huron 
Medical Center after a short illness.

Elmer was born on July 14, 1928, in Parisville, to the late Lawrence and Martha 
(O’Parka) Lamke. He married Beatrice (Danielski)(Jaskowski) Lamke on Nov. 21, 
1980 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. She preceded him in death on 
April 3, 2003. 


Elmer was a graduate of the Maurer Country School. He lived in the Detroit area 
from 1950-1970. During those years, he was a member of the Teamsters Union and 
worked at Midland Steel for a few years before finishing out his employment at 
Uniroyal Tire in Detroit, as a stock clerk. In 1970 he returned to the thumb 
area and resided in Ubly where he ran the Brown House and Chatter Box 
restaurants for many years, while working as a security guard at Hamill 
Manufacturing in Ubly. He was a current parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church 
in Parisville. Elmer loved to repair small engines, fishing, gardening, and deer 
hunting. 


Elmer is survived by his children, Diane (John) McClean of Blairsville, Ga., 
Dennis Lamke of Ruth, Judy Lamke of Georgia; step-children, Diane Grifka of 
Ubly, Virgil (Lorraine) Jaskowski of Bad Axe, Dorothy (Bernard) Morell of Ubly, 
Emelie (Murray) Thompson of Ruth and Arizona, Rodney (Cathy) Jaskowski of Minden 
City; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carol 
Rutkowski Lamke of Ubly; brother, Eugene (Mildred) Lamke of Parisville; two 
sisters, Arlene (Jerome) Longuski and Evelyn Susalla, both of Ubly;


He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; one granddaughter, Jaime Briggs; 
his brothers, Ervin (Irene) Lemke, Cass (Ruby) Lamke, Richard (Barb) Lamke, and 
Raymond Lamke; sisters, Marie (Frank) Peruski and Jake Susalla; brother-in-law, 
Harry Osontoski; step-son-in-law, David Doerr Sr.; step-grandsons, Dennis Grifka 
and David Doerr Jr.; step-great grandson, Tyler Peruski; and his first wife, 
Harriet.


Funeral mass for Elmer will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday March 27, 2013, at St. Mary 
Catholic Church. The Rev. Peter Nwokoye will officiate. Burial will be in the 
church cemetery in the spring.


Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral 
Home in Ubly and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church only. There will be a 
parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
