Lavine Mr. Casmer "Cass" A. Lavine, 89, of Ubly, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Cass was born on March 4, 1916 in Port Austin to the late Stanley and Margaret (Horetski) Lewandowski. He married Eleanor Wisbiski on Oct. 21, 1944 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1986. He was a graduate of the Kelly Country School. He lived in Detroit for 15 years before moving back to the Ubly area in 1946. He was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly, where he served as a former usher. He enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening, watching TV, and visiting with family and friends. Cass is survived by one son, Larry Lavine and his wife, Kathryn, of Ubly; three daughters, Patricia Jakubiec and her husband, Tony, of Taylor; Shirley Galarno of Ubly, Diane Spencer and her husband, Paul, of Millington; nine grandchildren, Tony Jakubiec Jr., Tonia and Paul Church, Chad Lavine, Krista Lavine, Dallas Galarno and his wife, Michelle, Jody Galarno and her husband, Tim, Justin Galarno, Paula Muter, Josh Muter; one great-grandson, Kellan Lavine; seven sisters, Celice Meyer and her husband, Pete, of Warren, Bernice Kalkulak and her husband, Joseph, of Sterling Heights, Irene Osentoski and her husband, Norman, of Sterling Heights, Thresa Nowak of Warren, Agnes Jimpkoski of Port Austin, Eleanor Kalka and her husband, Simon, of Sterling Heights; two brothers, Sylvester Leavine and his wife, Josephine, of Sterling Heights, Frank Leavine of Kinde. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosemary; one sister, Regena Murawski; three brothers-in-law, Arnold Nowak, Paul Murawski, and Ed Jimpkoski. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The Rev. T.J. Fleming, pastor of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in the spring.
