Anna Sophia (Briolat) Leppek
November 25, 1916 – February 12, 1978
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 16th in St. Joseph’s Catholic 
Church, Bakersfield, California, for Mrs. Anna A. Leppek, 61, former Huron 
County resident.  Burial was in Bakersfield.  Mrs. Leppek died Friday, February 
10th, after suffering a stroke.  She was born November 25, 1916 in Huron 
County.  She and Ira Leppek were married October 2, 1938 in St. John’s Catholic 
Church, Ubly.  They farmed in Sigel Township, operated a grocery store in Ubly 
and a beer and wine distributorship in Bad Axe before moving to California in 
1959.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Robert Leppek, Bakersfield; four 
daughters, Mrs. Jean Nichols, Lanchester, California, Mrs. Lorraine Shuart, 
Palmsdale, California; Mrs. Judy Bryant and Mrs. Mary Grace Smith, both of 
Bakersfield; three brothers, Stanley Briolat and Ervin Briolat, both of Ubly, 
and Clem Briolat, Cass City; seven sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Gertrude) Glaza and 
Mrs. Louis Osentoski, both of Ubly, Mrs. Sophie Cottick, Ferndale, Mrs. Frank 
Mattis, Dearborn Heights, Mrs. Martha Krug, Bad Axe, Mrs. Richard Krug, Warren 
and Mrs. Ray Gibson, Centerline, also eight grandchildren  Published: Unknown

Norma’s Notes:  Daughter of Roman and Pauline (Pollum) Briolat.  Actual marriage 
date was October 2, 1937 not 1938 according to the marriage certificate.
