Walter B. Leppek June 16, 1921 - July 25, 1944 Parisville - Aug. 17 - Pfc. Walter S. Leppek, Jr., 23, son of Supervisor Walter S. Leppek. Sr., of Paris township, has been missing in action in France since July 25, his father has been notified by the War department. Private Leppek, who was in the infantry, had been in the Army about 19 months. He went overseas in May. His last letter to his father was dated July 11. Published Times Herald (Port Huron, Michigan) Thursday August 17, 1944. Pfc. Walter B. Leppek Is Killed In France, Once Listed Missing Parisville, Oct. 3 Walter S. Leppek, supervisor of Paris township, received news Monday that his son, Pfc. Walter B. Leppek, Jr., 22, previously reported missing, was killed in action in France July 25. He is survived by his father, two sisters, Mrs. Elma Abraham and Mrs. Viola Taylor, both of Detroit: and four brothers, Richard D. Leppek, Detroit, formerly in service, who has received a medical discharge; James H. Leppek, serving in Alaska; Robert A. Leppek, with the United States Marines in South Pacific, and Harold Leppek, at home. Private Leppek, who was in the infantry, had been in the Army about 19 months and went overseas in May. Leppek, 22, son of Walter S. Leppek, Paris Township supervisor, will arrive at 4 p. m. Friday in Cass City and will be removed to the home of his father. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Monday in SL Mary's Catholic church. Rev. Ambrose Poeva, acting pastor, Rev. A. A. Kromka, Pigeon, and Rev. Stanley A. Kilar, Ubly, will officiate. Parisville post No. 5740, VFW, will conduct military burial honors in the church cemetery. Private Leppek is survived by his father, two sisters. Mrs. Eleanor Abraham and Miss Viola Leppek, both of Detroit, and four brothers, Richard Leppek, Detroit, Robert Leppek, Crystal Lake, Illinois, and James H. and Harold Leppek, both of Parisville. He was born June 16, 1921, in Parisville. He enlisted January 23, 1943, and was killed in action in Europe July 25, 1944. Leppek, 22, son Walter S. Leppek, Paris township supervisor, who was killed in action in Europe. Rev. Ambrose Poeva, acting pastor, Rev. A. A. Kromka, Pigeon and Rev. Stanley A.
