Jim was born on August 19, 1967 in Bad Axe to Suzanne (Alexander) Makowski and the late Elmer “Jim” Makowski. Jim was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves. He graduated college with a bachelor’s degree and became a school teacher. He also worked at various companies in Michigan and several other states. Jim enjoyed playing pool, cards and listening to his 80’s Rock. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed hunting and going ice fishing with his dad. Jim’s passion was tinkering with motorcycles and being able to ride them whenever he could. Jim is survived by two children, Matthew and Grace Makowski; mother, Suzanne “Sue” Makowski of Ruth; two brothers, Paul Makowski of Tenn., Ron Makowski of Caro; one sister, Melissa (Michael, PhD) Lucido D.D.S. of Eastpointe; three nieces and one nephew. The funeral service for Jim will be 3:00 pm Saturday, February 6 at the Zinger- Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor of St. Isidore Parish in Parisville, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Parisville. Visitation with Jim’s family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00-3:00 pm.
