Margaret Geiger Maurer, 89, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, June 11, 
2006, at Harbor Beach Community Hospital.   Born December 2, 1916 in Harbor 
Beach, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Bischer) Booms.   
Margaret and Norman Geiger were united in marriage on December 29, 1937 in 
Helena.  Norman preceded her in death on December 8, 1976.  She married Edward 
Maurer on October 18, 1980 in Harbor Beach.  Ed preceded her in death on 
September 24, 2003.   Margaret was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron 
Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society, the Legion of Mary and the 
Daughters of Isabella. She was a former member of the Port Hope Retirees Club 
and bowling league, the Harbor Beach Senior Citizens, and the Farm Bureau. 
Margaret enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering, drawing and artwork, and 
working with her flowers and gardening. She loved her grandchildren 
(especially the babies) and playing cards.   

She is survived by her children, Carol (Jim) Mazure, of Harbor Beach, John 
(Joyce) Geiger, of Bad Axe, Bob (Donna) Geiger, of Grand Prairie, Texas, 
Harvey (Rose Marie) Geiger, of Harbor Beach, Peggy (Ken) Weber, of Harbor 
Beach, Paulette (Paul) Wehner, of Harbor Beach, Warren (Barb) Geiger, of 
Harbor Beach, Della (Don) Wolschleger, of Harbor Beach, Nona (Dennis) Parak, 
of Shelby Township, and Julie (Dave) Messing, of Harbor Beach; a sister, 
Rosaline Messing, of Harbor Beach; son-in-law, Bill White, of Harbor Beach; 
sister-in-laws, Florence Booms, of Bad Axe, and Rita Booms, of Harbor Beach, 
Evelyn Kraft, of Clinton Township, and Carolyn (Ray) LeGault, of Harbor Beach; 
a brother-in-law, Clarence Geiger, of Harbor Beach. Also surviving are 48 
grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, in 
addition to step children: Jane (Richard) Messing, of Harbor Beach, Ron (Pat) 
Maurer, of Frankenmuth; step daughter-in-law, Betty Maurer, of Mount Morris, 
and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.  Margaret was 
preceded in death by a daughter, Linda White, and a son, Leslie Geiger; 
brothers, Roman, Arthur, Wilfred, Leroy, Leonard, and Bernard Booms; sisters, 
Clara Roggenbuck, Alma Messing, Loretta Dropiewski, Bernetta Messing and Emma 
Geiger; and step children, Donald Maurer, Wilfred Maurer, Joan Maurer, and 
Jean Oberski.   

A funeral mass for Margaret will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in 
Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating. 
Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Church Cemetery in Helena.
