Selma Mae (Ulfig) Maurer
June 14, 1929 - April 30, 2024
Selma May (Ulfig) Maurer, age 94 of Filion passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 
2024.  Selma was born on June 14, 1929 in Parisville, daughter of the late John 
and Susannah (Smaglinski) Ulfig.  She graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 
1946.  She married Robert P. Maurer on October 7, 1950 at St. Felix Church in 
Pinnebog.  They were married 64 years.  Robert preceded her in death on June 22, 
2015.  Robert served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.  Selma traveled to different 
states with him.  She assisted him in farming and the trucking business.  Selma 
enjoyed crocheting, reading, sewing, cooking, baking, and playing cards.

She is survived by her children- Susan Norton, Daniel Maurer, Dale (Rachel) 
Maurer, Dwayne (Tracy) Maurer, Donald (Leslie) Maurer. Daughter-in-law- Brenda 
Maurer.  Grandchildren- Davina Maurer, David Maurer; Robert L. Maurer, Renee 
(Chris) Fay, Tiffany (Brennen) Winter; Sarah (fiancé Cody Hull) Maurer, Shane 
(Jenny) Maurer; Danielle (Andrew) Sutton. Great-grandchildren- Mason, Trenton, 
Ryden Maurer; Hayden and Sadie Fey; Kennedy Maurer and many nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her sons- David and Darin, and grandson, 
Christopher; by siblings- Gertrude (Steve) Borek, Mary Anne (Raymond) Polak, 
John (Christine) Ulfig; her parents-John and Susannah Ulfig; In-laws- John and 
Caroline Maurer, Ina (Lester) Quinn, Iva Maurer, Vincent (Evelyn) Maurer, Joe 
(Phyllis) Maurer, Jack (Barbara) Maurer, and Fred (Chris) Maurer.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 4 pm at the Kaufman 
Funeral Home in Bad Axe.  Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be 
held on Friday from 2 pm until the service time at 4 pm.  Published by Huron
