Mazure, 61, of Ubly passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe of an apparent heart attack. John was born on April 15, 1947 in Bad Axe. Son of the late John R. and Emma (Maurer) Mazure. He married his loving wife, Joyce Taylor, on December 15, 1979 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. John was a 1966 graduate of Ubly High School. He farmed with his family until 1986. He worked for Halfway Siding and Halfway Tavern, where he achieved bartender of the year. John has worked for ADM Edible Bean Specialties, Inc. (Wruble Elevator) since 1986 and for Crop Production Services part-time each spring. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners, where he served on the parish council and was an usher. He enjoyed baseball, pool, bowling, euchre, pinochle - cards of all kinds, hunting, golfing and dancing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His laugh was contagious. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mazure of Ubly; six children, Cassandra Mazure and her fiancé, Michael Swenson, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christina Mazure of Mount Pleasant, Michael Mazure of Ubly, Theresa Mazure and special friend, Ken Baynton, of Mount Pleasant, James Mazure of Mount Pleasant and Danielle Mazure at home; one granddaughter, Emma Rose Baynton; one sister, Patricia Geiger and her husband, Raymond, of Bad Axe; six brothers, Edward Mazure and his wife, Betty, of New Baltimore, Eugene Mazure and his wife, Elaine, of Ubly, Robert Mazure and his wife, Phyllis, of Ubly, Fred Mazure and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bad Axe, Donald Mazure of Ubly, Richard Mazure and his wife, Alicia, of Ubly; mother-in-law, Theresa Taylor of Ubly; brothers-in-law, Robert Taylor and his wife, Kathleen, of Fort Gratiot, George Taylor and his wife, Tammy, of Bad Axe, Phillip Taylor and his wife, Debbie, of Bad Axe, Jeff Taylor and his special friend, Beth Vincent, of Ubly; sisters-in-law, Diane Weltin and her husband, Phillip, of Crestview, Florida, Kathy Stomack and her husband, Randy, of Minden City, Barbara Taylor of Chicago, Diana Taylor of Bad Axe; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Mazure; two brothers-in-law, David and James Taylor; and sister- in-law, Elaine Mazure. Funeral Mass for John Mazure will be at noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Smith Corners. The Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 11 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at noon Tuesday. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund.
