Mazure, 94, of Ubly died on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born on February 1, 1907, in Ubly, son of the late Rufus and Martha (Skrzyanski) Mazure. He married Constance Zurek on October 13, 1934, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parisville. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2000. He attended McMillan Country School. He farmed and worked at the Bad Axe grain elevator for many years, retiring in 1965. He was a bartender in Ubly for many years, a security guard at Hamill Industries and a caretaker at Sheldon Campground. Mr. Mazure was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary's Church in Parisville. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by three sons, Virgil Mazure and his wife, Nancy, of Bad Axe, Willard Mazure and his wife, Louise, of Livonia and LaVern Mazure and his wife, Judy, of Hale; two daughters, Diane Leppek and her husband, Ronald, of Bad Axe and Joyce Lamke and her husband, Myron, of Ubly; 13 grandchildren, Lisa Polega and her husband, Martin, of Bad Axe, Rodney Mazure and his wife, Lori, of Cass City, Erin Mazure of Bad Axe, Willard Mazure and his wife, Linda, of Jackson, Kevin Mazure and his wife, Cindy, of Westland, Radene Kumaus and her husband, Mark, of Ubly, Rhonda Leppek of Ubly, Rene Kluger and her husband, Keith, of Bad Axe, Ryan Leppek and his wife, Janet, of Bad Axe, Kristy Hallock of Kinde, Elliot Lamke of Ubly, Michele Olechnowicz and her husband, Scott, of South Lyon, Matthew H. Mazure of Milford; 14 great- grandchildren; one sister, Lucy Mazure of Minden City; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Gwisdalla and Nettie Schumacher; one brother, Henry Mazure. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. The Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly. There will be a parish wake service at 8 p.m. tonight at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
